PHOENIX (December 20, 2018) — Phoenix Rising Football Club announced today it had signed midfielder/forward Joey Calistri for the 2019 season. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be made public.
Calistri most recently spent time with USL Championship side Saint Louis FC. He logged 2,156 minutes over 32 appearances in 2018 and finished tied for third on the club with five goals. He also added two assists.
“I’m really excited for this new opportunity. Over the last two years it’s been easy to see how dynamic this team is. I can’t wait to get to work and do whatever I can to help the club reach new heights.”
Calistri’s professional career began in 2015 when he signed a homegrown contract with Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire. He made his professional debut on March 6, 2016, as a substitute for the Fire. In his two seasons with the Fire, Calistri scored a goal in 14 appearances. In 2017, he was loaned out to USL Championship side Tulsa Roughnecks and scored nine goals in 31 appearances.
