PHOENIX (December 17, 2018) — Phoenix Rising Football Club announced today the return of goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski for the 2019 season. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be made public.
“Phoenix has become home to me, so I’m ecstatic to be back with Rising. We set a high standard for the club in 2018 and won’t be settling for anything less than that standard in 2019.”
Woszczynski will be entering his fifth season with the club, first signing with the team when it was Arizona United SC in 2015. This past season was a historic one for Woszczynski. He set single-season club records for clean sheets (13) and goalkeeper minutes (2,633). He also became the club’s all-time career leader in minutes played (currently sitting at 7,560) and extended his all-time career lead in games played (85) and career clean sheets (23). He also set a club record for most consecutive clean sheets in a single season (5) and most consecutive minutes without allowing a goal (491).
This will be Woszczynski’s eighth season in the United Soccer League Championship where he has amassed over 100 career appearances. He spent his first three seasons with the Orange County Blues and Orlando City prior to coming to Arizona. In his first season with the club, he set the USL Championship record for most saves in a single season (130). The previous record had been 115.
With the addition of Woszczynski, Phoenix Rising’s roster now stands at 15 players for the 2019 season.
