PHOENIX (August 24, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC will continue its playoff push on Saturday night when it hosts Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for the second leg of a three-game homestand. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and fans can watch locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. They can also stream the match on ESPN+. The match will also be simulcast live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language) and Fox Sports 910 AM (English).
Phoenix Rising FC (14-6-5) has recorded clean sheets in each of its past two matches, a 2-0 on the road over Las Vegas Lights FC and a 4-0 victory over San Antonio FC at home on Wednesday. With 47 points, the club is just three back of first-place Real Monarchs SLC and has a 13-point cushion of the playoff cut line.
Phoenix Rising moved closer to a couple milestones this year after winning on Wednesday night. The club is just 11 points shy of setting a new single-season record and is just one goal away from matching the single-season team scoring record of 50, set last season.
Against San Antonio, midfielder Solomon Asante and forward Chris Cortez both notched their 12th goals of the season, leaving them tied for the team lead and sixth in the USL in scoring. The club’s single-season goals record for a player is 14.
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC come south in need of a late season run to make the postseason. The team is currently in 12th place with 31 points, leaving it three points shy of the Western Conference’s top eight.
Saturday will be the first meeting between the two clubs this year and seventh all-time. Colorado Springs leads the all-time series 4-2-0 but Phoenix Rising won both head-to-head matches between the clubs last year.
