PHOENIX (November 22, 2016) — Phoenix Rising Football Club today announced it has re-signed forward Chris Cortez. The contract is pending league and USSF approval and, per league rules, the terms of the contact will not be public.
“Chris did very well for us (last season) and the guys really like him,” said Phoenix Rising FC head coach Frank Yallop. “He’s one of those players who is very versatile and plays in a number of different positions and I think it really helps us to maximize Chris’ strengths.”
Cortez appeared in 27 matches (1,767 minutes) and scored seven goals in 2016 while dishing out four assists. His 18 points was the third-most on the team. He will be entering his fourth season in USL. He’s scored 27 goals in 94 career appearances.
