Forward scored his first goal for Atlanta United in a 1-0 win against Club America
Phoenix Rising FC has signed forward Jackson Conway on loan with an option to buy from Major League Soccer side Atlanta United, pending USL and federation approval, the club announced today.
“Jackson is a young striker with a lot of experience and goals in our league,” said Head Coach Juan Guerra. “His physicality and movement inside the box make him a threat to any team. His ability to combine, link up with the midfield and hold the ball higher up the field makes him a great addition to our game model.”
Conway burst onto the scene with Atlanta United’s U-16 side in the 2017, scoring 10 goals in nine matches to help the club claim the Development Academy National Championship. He signed his first professional contract with former USL Championship side Atlanta United 2 the following year. From 2018 to 2022, Conway scored 23 goals in 72 matches, including 11 in 25 USL Championship appearances last season.
“I wanted to get consistent games,” said Conway following his first training session with the team today. “Thankfully Juan reached out to me not too long ago. He seemed very interested in pulling me into the team. He took me through his philosophy and how he wants things to work. I was really intrigued so I would say Juan was a big reason I came to Phoenix.
My goals are to score as much as possible, play well and gain experience that will help me in the long term. I’m excited to be here. The atmosphere was good when I was here last year with Atlanta. The new stadium site should only amplify that energy. I am excited to play in front of the fans.”
Conway made his first appearance for Atlanta’s MLS side in December 2020, coming on in the final 10 minutes to score the game-winner in a 1-0 win vs. Club America in Concacaf Champions League play. He has appeared 12 times for Atlanta United in MLS, scoring the game-tying goal in a 2-2 draw with Nashville SC on July 8, 2021.
Conway has represented the U.S. Youth National Team at the U-14 and U-16 levels.
Atlanta can recall Conway from the loan this season.
