$1 Beer Night returns to Phoenix when Rising hosts USL League One side, Greenville Triumph SC in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action, Wednesday at 38th St/Washington.
Greenville is coached by former U.S. Men’s National Team captain John Harkes, who has served as the club’s coach and technical director since the formation of the club in 2018. Triumph has advanced to the USL League One semifinals or better in each of its four years in existence. The club claimed the USL League One Championship in 2020.
Greenville opened its 2023 campaign with a 1-0 home loss to Richmond Kickers on March 25. Kharlton Belmar scored the lone goal of the match for Richmond in the 12th minute. Triumph SC lost the match despite controlling 60% of possession and outshooting the Kickers 14-5.
Greenville advanced to the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup in 2022, defeating Oakland Roots, 2-0, in South Carolina on April 7. Two players that transferred to other USL League One clubs in the offseason, Jake Keegan and Don Smart, scored in that victory. Greenville fell, 2-1, to Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC in added extra time of its Third Round match on April 20, 2022.
