
PHOENIX (November 28, 2018) — Phoenix Rising Football Club announced today that midfielder Solomon Asante would return for the 2019 season. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be made public.
Asante officially signed with the club on December 21, 2017, and played 3,042 minutes in 36 appearances (led the team) last season. The Ghana international completed the best single-season offensive performance in club history, scoring 14 goals (second on the team) and nine assists (first on the team) during the 2018 season. He also created the most chances on the club (108), 71 chances ahead of the next highest total on the team.
The league recognized Asante with Team of the Week or Team of the Week honorable mention honors a total of eight times over the season, a team high, and named him to the USL First-Team All-League at the end of the season.
Prior to his time with Phoenix Rising, Asante played with Congolese-Based TP Mazambe. From 2013-2017, he helped lead TP Mazambe to three league titles in four seasons in addition to an African Super Cup in 2016 and an African Champions League title in 2015. Asante has also played internationally, earning 17 caps with the Ghana National Team.
Asante becomes the fifth player officially announced for the 2019 roster.
