
(PHOENIX) Aug. 10, 2018 – Phoenix Rising FC announced today that soccer veteran and former Premier League player, Peter Ramage, will join the team as an assistant coach under interim head coach, Rick Schantz.
“We are so honored to have such a seasoned and well-respected player like Peter Ramage join our coaching staff,” said Schantz, “Peter has played at the highest level and his experience, passion for the game and his drive for excellence, make him the perfect addition to our team. His familiarity with the locker room, the roster and our expectations within the club will allow Peter to make an immediate impact.”
Ramage began his soccer career with the Newcastle United Youth Academy before moving up the ranks and joining Newcastle United FC as a defender, getting his first English Premier League start in April 2005 against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He played for Newcastle for four seasons making 52 appearances before moving on to Queens Park Rangers. Ramage ended his playing career with Phoenix Rising FC in 2017 making 36 career appearances, including serving as team captain, playing 3,139 minutes which was the sixth most appearances and minutes played for the franchise.
After completing 13 seasons and 295 professional career appearances, Ramage began his coaching career with Newcastle Youth Academy, the academy team for the Premier League club Newcastle United. Ramage joins Phoenix Rising FC, effective immediately.
