PHOENIX (February 10, 2019) — Phoenix Rising FC is set to meet up with the defending MLS Supporters’ Shield winners New York Red Bulls at Naranja Park in Oro Valley, AZ. The match is set to kickoff at 1 p.m. today.
Phoenix Rising and New York Red Bulls will meet for the third time in both clubs’ history. The Red Bulls won the first matchup in dramatic fashion on February 10, 2018. Despite Rising FC holding on to a 2-1 lead heading into the final moments of the match, the Red Bulls pulled away with a 3-2 win thanks to two stoppage-time goals. Phoenix Rising got revenge later in the month on February 24 when the club won 2-1 in Tucson.
This will be Rising FC’s third preseason match against an MLS club in 2019. In the club’s previous two matches, Phoenix Rising drew with Minnesota United, 0-0, and fell to Sporting KC 3-2. The club’s lone two goals of the preseason have been scored by trialist Lamar Neagle and midfielder Kevon Lambert.
The Town of Oro Valley will host the open game at Naranja Park, 810 W. Naranja Park Drive. It is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to the west side of Field 1 only, so spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs. Players will be available to sign autographs after the game.
